Not sure of the cause but I had a number of torrents that had single pieces missing when I came to re-check them following completion. These were downloaded from several trackers. Luckily I have been able to re-download the missing pieces for the majority of those found with errors so far, though still a number to check through yet.
Anyway to get to the point I wish to make here, whilst checking 1970.09.03 KB Hallen Copenhagen 6 Sources 24 bit Mono Tapes with Traders Little Helper and analysing the encoded audio files I found that sources 2 & 3 have the following issues.
File is decodable without error, but flac fingerprint cannot be checked since it was unset in the streaminfo block.
Googling this I found the following explanation - When a wav file is encoded to flac format the flac encoder writes the md5 checksum of the raw wave data (the so called flac fingerprint) to the header of the flac file. When decoding that flac file at a later time the integrity of the audio data will be automatically checked by comparing the checksum of the decoded wave data with the fingerprint in the flac file header.
In this case the checksum/fingerprint in the flac file header was set to zero (possibly by some bad encoder). So it is not possible to tell whether the decoded wave data is identically equal with the one before it was encoded.
I just thought I would post this in case others come across this issue.
I re-downloaded the torrent and did a forced re-check to make sure my files matched the original torrent files, which they did.
